What a lovely and endearing story!

Author Deborah H. Bateman  wrote and completed her first ebook by creating a bible study teaching tool and a stand alone e-book for the novice reader, using the Book of Ruth, a story of love and redemption from the Christian Holy Bible.

We learn about Ruth, the Moabitess and King David’s ancestress, is a young widow, who demonstrates acts of kindness, honor, loyalty, commitment, hard work, and certainly a pure love for Naomi, her mother-in-law, who refers to herself as Mara, meaning “bitter” because of their dire circumstances and attitude that God has abandoned the family.  Naomi’s husband and her sons (both Ruth and Orpah‘s husbands) were robbed by death,  leaving the women without financial comfort and childless.

The Hebrew name for Ruth reflects that Ruth was a beauty “a sight worth seeing”.

The elderly Naomi’s second daughter in law is Orpah who leaves Naomi to return to her own homeland to worship pagan gods.

It take the grace of God to befriend a bitter woman like Naomi, but Ruth was bound by cords of love and common grief,  expressed her wish:

“Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goes, I will go; and where thou lodges, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

Where thou dies, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if aught but death part thee and me.”

Ruth voluntarily followed Naomi and voluntarily converted to worship the God of the Israelites, and not follow other gods.

The Book of Ruth is a journey wrought with death, separation from their homeland (Moab) and poverty, after the one path that Naomi knew would take her back to her faithful God, back to Israel and a new  hopeful productive future. A future that would set the wheels in motion (by Father God) for Ruth to meet Boaz and, and…well, read the book and follow these characters and experience their feelings, their hopes, and eventual solution.

The outline provides for an explanation and overview of  scriptures capturing the structure and events of a time and era where family was the core for daily living facing tribulations and in this case, the death of the primary financial provider with the final solution for such a traumatic situation.

Each outline is followed by the real various King James scriptures (authenticating the story) and raising a prayer to the Lord, thanking Him for each lesson’s insight.

Finally, each lesson actively involves the reader by asking specific questions about the story, including poignantly pointing the reader to Jesus Christ.

There is a distinct layer revealing a parallel and personifying God in these powerful ancient characters plus God’s design for protecting the genealogy of Jesus Christ, with His ever prevailing strong-arm to right a wrong.

When repentance is acknowledged, we turn around and head in the right direction–His direction!

  1. Mary with God’s usual wonderful blessings, you’ve written yet another great article. This one brings into focus and clarity the Master Weaver’s master plan for both Moses and Jesus! The detail and scripture used, bring your words vividly to life! I believe this article should give all of us hope in what the Master Weaver has for us. Bless you my friend!

    • Lily, thanks for your encouragement! The Master Weaver took careful consideration as the Lord was showing me snipits in my spirit. If we listen carefully as He speaks we would do much better. I owe all of my articles to Him. He drops the Word into my spirit, then I start thinking, then I get excited, then the details start forming a picture of what He wants us to learn. I am, many times, surprised as this thing called “writing” evolves.
