Is The Earth Really Round or Circular Flat?

1892 New Standard Map of the WorldIs The Earth Really Round or Circular Flat?

Oh ye who jest!  Of course the earth is round (globe shaped), isn’t it?

The Word/Bible states:

  • Test all things; hold fast what is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

I grew up laughing at the notion that people would still question that the world was, indeed, round, a sphere in this vast universe, surrounded by other “objects”, the moon, the sun, the stars, planets, — out in space.  After all, I get to see many earth images taken by astronauts and satellite images from the International Space Station, etc.

I thought about Christopher Columbus’ voyages.  In 1492, Christopher Columbus set out to explore and expand trade routes.  Columbus’ proposal to reach the East Indies by sailing westward, eventually received the support of the Spanish Crown, which saw in it a chance to enter the spice trade with Asia through a new westward route so he was privy to the oceanic maps of its time.

“During his first voyage in 1492, instead of arriving at Japan as he had intended, Columbus reached the New World, landing on an island in the Bahamas archipelago that he named “San Salvador”. Over the course of three more voyages, Columbus visited the Greater and Lesser Antilles, as well as the Caribbean coast of Venezuela and Central America, claiming all of it for the Crown of Castile.” {source:  Wikipedia}

So what makes this “circular flat theory” now interesting, enough for me to question Flat Earththe veracity of the earth and the narrative biblical version of “circle” vs “round (spherical-globe)”?

I can’t claim credit for this new possibility chance.  TheOldMarine1 sent it out a few days ago and I saw it but it didn’t carry enough data for me to go further into it, so I dug a bit deeper and found a few other videos with better data, including Rob Skiba’s who is now also rethinking this “circular flat vs round globe” earth narrative.

Have we been so deceived so “dumb downed” or was God not ready for us to re-examine this portion of the bible until now?

I’m unable to “transcribe” these videos into notes, simply because you have to listen to this information and form your own opinion.

Rob Skiba with Biblical Evidence for Flat Earth

Globe or Flat Earth? At this point, I am questioning EVERYTHING!

  • Isaiah 40:22: It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
  • Job 22:14: Thick clouds cover Him, so that He cannot see, And He walks above the circle of heaven.’
  • Proverbs 8:27: When He prepared the heavens, I was there, When He drew a circle on the face of the deep,
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:21: Test all things; hold fast what is good.

Myth of the Circular Flat Earth:

“The disputed point was not the shape of the Earth, nor the idea that going west would eventually lead to Japan and China, but the ability of European ships to sail that far across open seas. The small ships of the day (Columbus’ three ships varied between 20.5 and 23.5 m – or 67 to 77 feet – in length and carried about 90 men) simply could not carry enough food and water to reach Japan. The ships barely reached the eastern Caribbean islands. Already the crews were mutinous, not because of some fear of “sailing off the edge”, but because they were running out of food and water with no chance of any new supplies within sailing distance. They were on the edge of starvation. What saved Columbus was the unknown existence of the Americas precisely at the point he thought he would reach Japan. His ability to resupply with food and water from the Caribbean islands allowed him to return safely to Europe. Otherwise his crews would have died, and the ships foundered.” {source:  Wikipedia}

Did Christopher Columbus really prove that the earth was a “round globe?”  The “sailing off the edge” of the world was already known language in 1492.

Stay safe.  Be blessed.
